Default Did anyone get a robocall from Allstate re the tornado damage?

I didn't suffer damage.

I don't have Allstate.

But I received a robocall.

It made me angry.

Did anyone else get one?

I wonder what loophole they use to get away with that.

I got one, but I am with Allstate so I brushed it off. Seems pretty shallow for them to take advantage of a disaster like this to get new business.

Every time I drive up Oberlin Rd, I see the sign someone has in his yard saying "AllState Sucks!"

It said something to the effect of: Hello this is Allstate Insurance, and we know your area was hit by a tornado, and we're sorry for the automatic call, but it's the best way for us to get information out. Call 1-800-54-STORM to report your damage.

Then the voice kept talking, and I tried to hang up to make another call, but of course, that is impossible to do while a robocall is still active. I can only assume it was a pitch for their services; even if it wasn't, I don't know how we would have ever gotten on their list.

I called the number, and they gave two options -- to start a new claim or to add to an existing one.

What the heck. IF people with tornado damage have Allstate, I'm sure they would have called them.

We never had Allstate insurance for anything. And we never will.

I bet they had the wrong number. It seems a little odd for them to just call random people in hope of reaching their customers, KWIM?

^This.

I'm not insured by Allstate but I think you hit the nail on the head.

Exactly! It isn't like any insurance company is going to call to ask if they can take you as their client and pay a claim AFTER you were hit by a tornado! That makes no sense.

I get a robocall every year from ToysRUs wishing me a happy birthday when it's not my b-day, obviously meant for someone who had our number before we did. I'm not an Allstate fan but it probably was a wrong number.

The Town of Morrisville calls me every month to give me some kind of update on their garbage collection. I live nowhere near Morrisville. Definitely think they have a wrong number and that's why you got that call. No sweatski.
