Looked on VolunteerMatch.org and most of the places I saw are a bit far -- closer to the Raleigh area rather than Cary. I'll be home from college (UNC) for the summer and was wanting to do some volunteer work in the community. Anyone have any ideas or leads? I live in the Cary/Apex area and Morrisville is completely okay too.

I'd be most interested in anything relating to the justice system, tutoring, working with a homeless shelter, etc. I'm also Spanish speaking and have my TESL (Teacher of English as a Foreign Language) certification that I would like to put to use, but again most opportunities are in Raleigh.

Thanks in advance!

I think ME3 is the best starting point for volunteer work in the Triangle. Welcome to ME³ - Volunteer and Help Out Causes in Wake County, North Carolina

You can follow them on twitter and get updates on new opportunities, or one time opportunities, which are sometimes the most fun.

May I suggest a friend's organization? It's in Raleigh, though.

The families from Stoneybrook Mobile Home park who lost so much from the recent tornado need help. I know they have dire need for Spanish translators just to help communicate with the families and all the organizations there to work with them.

If you would like a Volunteer contact person please DM me.
