We gotta be in Cary during 2nd week of June but want to get down to the beaches on the wrap-around weekends. We're traveling with 2 toddlers so need some clean, easily-accessed sand close by to hotels or condos. Seems beaches are about 2 hrs. away minimum so we'll likely get a hotel or beach condo for the weekends.

- How hard to get rooms in early June?
- Suggestions on best beaches for family in early June?
- Also, looking @ kids stuff in Cary during the week. Any great playgrounds or gardens/parks to recommend (already up on the museums).?

Thanks to all willing to share their insights!

Anywhere you choose will be family friendly. You really should be making reservations now as it gets busy as soon as schools are out. Carolina Beach was fine for us and the N.C. Aquarium is close by. Whole family will enjoy that.

Not in Cary. I'm sure others will answer you soon.

My husband's family has vacationed at Ocean Isle Beach for years and years, we have gone the last 7 with kids. It is very family friendly, non-commercial, etc. but I don't know that you want to drive that far. We have also stayed at Carolina Beach at the Marriott and it was great, had a suite so the kids could go to sleep with the door closed and we could stay up and watch TV in the living area. I also second the recommendation on the Fort Fisher aquarium. I think the parks here in Cary are great. If you go to the town of Cary website there is a section that lists the parks and the addresses. Some of our favorites are Sears Farm Road, Ritter Park, White Oak Park. Have fun!

Kure Beach and head to the Aquarium, take a peek at Ft. Fisher and ride the ferry...the kids love it. We usually stay in the north tower of the Golden Sands. It's a newer, non smoking building. Kure has a ton of great vintage motels that have been there forever and are awesome, but with the kids, The Golden Sands is the best...much cheaper that the Marriott in Carolina Beach. It shouldn't be too hard to get a room if you book in advance.
