I got a surprise day off today, and want to do a mini-excursion to get some good food for lunch.
The criteria are (loosely):
-60-90 minutes from Cary
-Confirmed that they are open. (Safe inside seating preferred, but takeout OK)
-NOT north and East (Weather related)
-Comfort food preferred (BBQ, GREAT Mexican, Jamaican, Vietnamese, etc...)
Right now I am thinking of heading toward Grady's BBQ, if that does not work out, they are near Wilburs and McCalls, so I have a back-up.
There is also an interesting Jamaican place in Wilson, never heard of them till today....
I would have considered going toward Roxboro or North of Durham, but due to weather, prefer not to...
I need to be gone from the house for at least a few hours for family reasons, so at least an hour away, but hopefully no more than 90-120 minutes away.
Really open to all options. I will roll in a few hours, but keep posting, because I will refer back later and add interesting places to my future go-to list.
Really open to anything that is interesting, unique, or "best available". (If Luna Mezza were further away, I might try them for all the hype. Also always up for a great Rueben or Pastrami if it meets the other requirements.)
If it weren't for the bad weather, I'd suggest Brookland Eats in Roxboro. They have really good food. Otherwise, I'd head east to Kinston for King's Barbeque. Parker's Barbeque in Wilson has great ratings, but I've never eaten there.

Couldn't rep you again, but thanks, this is what I'm looking for. (Keep 'em comiing)
Glad you mentioned Parkers, because that gives me a back-up to the Jamaican place in Wilson. (With COVID, and weather concerns, I think I want to have a backup plan in my pocket...)
There’s also the Prime Smokehouse in Rocky Mount, if you drink there are a few breweries at Rocky Mount Mills.
I do enjoy a cold beverage, but since I'm going solo (eg "driving") i'd have a hard limit of just one. I'll check out Prime though, IIRC it's anothe one that needs to be on my llist.
