I have a friend who will be getting divorced and won't have affordable health insurance available through her employer (currently on her husbands policy).

She is 42, female, in good health, smokes.

Anyone know of any insurance options for a person like that. She does not go the the doctor regularly, so something with a big deductable for catastrophic issues is really what she is looking for. (doesn't need to pay for wellness stuff she won't use).

Please don't move this posting, I'm specifically asking people in the Triangle area, since that is where we live.

Thanks (it's not for me, I'm a guy)

Matt

Blue Cross Blue Shield has a high deductible/HSA policy that she could get a free quote from the website on. They also offer dental blue at a reasonable price.

A neighbor just went off cobra onto a Cigna plan that sounded reasonable (money and coverage wise). I have no more information than that, but it is an alternative to look at in the RTP area if your friend doesn't want BCBSNC.
