Default What is the "hippest" place to live in Raleigh?

What's the "hippest" and/or most desirable neighborhoods/zips to live in Raleigh? Cool restaurants, nice shopping, etc

You are looking for ITB Raleigh. "Inside The Beltline."
Glenwood South and Brooklyn, Cameron Park area is a personal favorite, Boylan Heights, 5 Points,

You might consider some areas around the 440 Beltline:
North Hills, possibly West Raleigh, Glenwood around Crabtree Valley area.

But generally you want to be ITB.

Here is a cool Zip Code site another poster put up here a few months ago:
Click for a Zip Code Boundary Map.

Heh heh.... I tried to give you some reputation for this, but I apparently haven't spread it around enough to give you more points...

Seriously, downtown Raleigh around Glenwood has some great condos, and I'm particular to Mordecai. All the suggestions have been good so far- ITB is where you want to go...

Or downtown Durham... Or Carrboro...

The beltline is I-440, which circles the perimeter of downtown Raleigh, and the old established and historical neighborhoods.

You can see I-440 on the Zip Code Map site I posted earlier. Just search for Zip Code 27605.

I just moved here from CA and the homes ITB are awesome. Some remind me of Pasadena's bungalows, some areas remind me of older Beverly Hills areas, some are very traditional and grand and all are within walking, or a short car or bike ride to some of the "cooler" restaurants/shops of the area. this is where you will find unique boutiques, independent restaurants, fewer chain-type stores, etc. I wish we had waited and looked in this area, but I insisted on new construction, so our realtor didn't take us through this area before we bought. Maybe our next house will be ITB!
