I'm currently living in the suburbs of Chicago and am planning on moving to the Raleigh area next year. In doing my research of good, safe areas for my kids, I came across the link below that shows crimes and sex offenders on a map.
There is alot of activity in the Apex area, which is one of the places I was thinking of moving. For those living there, can you please provide your thoughts?
I viewed that link, and really don't think what I saw could be considered a lot of crime or activity. And most of the crime seemed to be around the larger retail areas, which is always the case.
I'm not in Apex, but I'm near it, and I don't consider it to be unsafe. I think if you compare a similar sized town on that website, you'll find that Apex does not have a crime problem.
I live in Apex and love it. We aren't in the downtown area but in the area that is in the county and closer to Cary/Holly Springs. It's quiet and we are fortunate that we have a house on a few acres and our children can play outside and I know they're safe. The only major problem we have at the moment is ticks. Other than that, it's pretty nice!

Actually I think you need to be careful comparing locations because it appears that not all LE departments share their data and some may share more data than others. I looked at my parent's town and it appears that there is no crime at all, when I know that is not the case.
apex is one of the safest places I've lived - you need not worry.
in the crime profiles, I've noticed a good portion being consensual relations between a young person over 18 and a person under 18 which is later reported to the police. Also, many/most are not random crimes.....usually between folks that know each other and are makers of trouble.
I believe that overall, you will have no issues with Apex. There is nothing out of the ordinary, and as stated before, most crimes are usually around high retail and business areas. I have close friends that moved down here from Chicago and have raved about the area. APex downtown also has great restaurants etc. Also, Apex is very close to other metropolitan areas, close to Raleigh/Cary etc. All are great areas. Welcome to NC!

The map may just be showing places where children were seen playing in the street.
