Nice, thanks! Will try and have the wife make me a batch!

Mmm ice cold sweet tea... I can tell the difference between fresh and old sweet tea (and even if the canister isn't clean) and I find Bojangles to be hit or miss. My favorite fast food tea is McDonald's - pretty much guaranteed fresh, as they're required to make it every morning (or were when I worked there). I haven't found anything bottled that can compare to the real thing.

I would buy the jugged if most of it wasn't full of corn syrup and flavorings, etc. Bojangles appears to be just tea and sugar (sometimes it is so fresh it is still a bit hot when they give it to you....opps).

What is JJ's made of?

Ah, JJ's the same. From what I remember, says NC spring (or some kinda water?) sugar, tea.... not much else.

McAlister's Deli...I know what I'm talkin'bout here
Bo's is good
Homemade....I make a little batch everyday.

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a sauce pan
Remove and add 1/4 cup of sugar and stir in
Drop in 1 family sized tea bag...Lipton or Luzianne will do
Let it sit for 10 minutes...exactly! no stirring
Pour off into pitcher...no squeezing tea bag
Slowly add two cups of cold water....stirring in.
You can serve immediately but I like to let it sit for about an hour.

I like mine about medium sweet. Add more sugar if you like.

I'll have to try the 2 hours at room temperature step. Thanks!

I make it myself, too, using my Iced Tea Pot. Fill the pitcher with ice, pour a cup of sugar over it, then brew the tea. As the hot tea spills into the pot, it melts the sugar and is chilled by the ice. In ten minutes, I have ice cold sweet tea. I'll drink the Bojangles and McDonald's tea, but find that the sugar pretty much dominates the flavor, making it hard to actually taste the tea.

I use leaf tea, and really prefer it to the sawdust you get in tea bags. Adagio sells some great tea of all kinds. I'm partial to the strawberry tea.

I've also used Splenda instead of sugar and like that, too.

Sweet tea is so easy (and cheap!) to make, I can't imagine why anyone would buy it. We regularly consume at least a gallon and a half a day (just the two of us). We use Splenda, but it tastes fine to me.

I used to be addicted to McAlister's unsweet tea, with extra lemon. It cost me an arm and a leg, though!

Now I've figured out how to make my own, and I'm so happy. I don't know why I thought it was so complicated. I'm now growing my own mint and plan to incorporate that into my recipe! I'll be happy to sell gallons upon request. It's fab.
