I miss the good weather up North!!
Just remember though when December comes around and we are in 50s/60s and they have inches or even a feet of snow.

It's not uncommon to have dewpoints in Raleigh hover in the low 70s (70 is approximately the dewpoint that most people consider 'humid').
Is this why my clothes feel damp if I don't take them out of the dryer immediately? Is the humidity coming through the vent? But I think the vent is closed when it's not on.

Most likely. Up here in MA, if it's humid and I'm not running the central a/c, even the papers feel limp.

This is the South.

We used to live in New Orleans, and raleigh's great.

Still remember our apt in a middle income NYC project. A/C not allowed. You put up a ceiling fan, slept under it, and took a shower every hour or so. No fire escape to sleep outside on awful NYC nights.

It ain't that bad. If you don't like heat, the South's not where you want to live.

I miss the white Christmas and the distinct seasons. It gets cold enough here too in the winter. Like someone else said earlier in the thread, you can put layers of clothes on in the winter but there is only so much you can do in the heat.

I'm the opposite.

I love the heat but smell like a wet dog.

Cold's my enemy.

I've been in chicago when it was -30. Even if I owned enough clothing to dress comfortably for that temperature, I would look like a bowling ball rolling down Michigan Avenue.

I'll take the summers in NC over that any day

I second that!

Still remember jogging in NYC when it was -2.

Got frostbite somewhere I can't mention in mixed company.

-30 is the rare exception. This prolonged stretch of 100 degree days is nasty bad. And it looks as if it will continue. I will take the beautiful weather up North over this oppressive heat any time. And like I said earlier - it gets plenty cold down here too.

Everyone has their own preferences regarding weather.

My BIL moved to Mesa AZ. He then quickly moved to Twin Falls ID saying Mesa was too hot. DUH!
