As is covered slightly in another thread, the old Kroger on Highway 55 at the corner of High House Road, Highway 55, and Green Level West Road is being considered as the site of the Immigration Customs Enforcement office. This facility houses suspected criminals detained by ICE awaiting transfer to other facilities. This is a proposed criminal holding center.
The ICE office is currently located in Weston Business Park off Evans Road (an industrial commercial office area) and is looking at the Kroger (a retail, family friendly shopping center) for its new location.
This is definitely not a family friendly, retail operation consistent with that shopping plaza nor one that is a good fit for the western gateway entrance to Cary NC.
This belongs at the airport or other commercial industrial or governmental centered location.
Please express your concerns at the meeting tonight.
Cant make the meeting, is there an online petition or something where we can submit our feelings online? TOTALLY against this, and honestly cant believe they are really considering it in such a residential area.

This is NOT just office space. Unless you have seen the Weston facility or work there, please do not imply otherwise.
There is not an online petition as far as I know. Everyone will have more information after the homeowner's meeting at West Park tonight. Please let your city and federal elected officials know how you feel about this--negative, or positive. Please call or email them NOW. This decision still can be influenced by strong public opinion but you must speak out.

Reason: tone
"Like ICE's current office in Cary, the new space will be used as an office, not a detention center, she said.
"Like any law enforcement building, it's going to contain secure areas for holding and interviewing people that we arrest, but there is going to be no overnight bed space," she said."
Sounds like offices with a few that have doors that lock.

Supposedly, I must spread the mojo around and can't give NRG more rep points right now. So this should work:
I wonder if the anamosity towards an enforcement office would be this high if it was going to be a Wake County Police substation.
