I find that while shopping Craigslist and doing Freecycle pickups, I've explored a lot of the Triangle that I never would have. Some of my only trips to local towns have been solely for that purpose.
Hope this thread catches on! I just moved to the area in the last few weeks and am trying to explore anything and everything so I hope to pick up some must-do's from here.
Any advice for fun activities for a single, recent college grad? I'm living in downtown Durham/Brightleaf area right now, but I am sure I haven't seen everything there is to offer. What do I HAVE to do?
Whew...Here I thought I was a loser for not having been to the Beach.I have explored Durham and Raleigh while living in Chapel Hill.Always looking for new places to check out. This forum has been fantastic.I sound so knowledgable(eye roll) when I talk to people in the area who've been here forever and I talk about stuff I found out via CD.Ha!
I've found that the hobby of letterboxing is one of the best ways to explore the places I've lived (and even places I've visited). The treasure hunts involved take you down roads and on light hikes in places you would never have discovered on your own. There's no cost involved, you just need a sense of adventure and a free hour or two. It looks like there are 74 letterboxes hidden with 10 miles of Raleigh. Atlas Quest: A Letterboxing Community
