BTW, congrats to you and Grass is Greener on your job offers. You are lucky you have companies that move faster than the speed of molasses and communicate with you. I've been all over the board with the company I interviewed with back in June.

Hi Christinabean,

Congratulations on your job offer! I can tell you are very excited. I think it is absolutely wonderful that your husband is also very excited and looking forward to the move as well. I am sure your cats will be happy to come along because they will want to go with those they love - you and your husband.

My cat, as strange as she may be, loves to travel. One of her favorite things to do is to sun bathe in the front dash on long drips. I love it when she sits in my lap and purrs as I am driving.

As for Cary, NC, I am sure you will love it. Cary has been ranked one of the top ten best places to live in the country. It is such a lovely area of the Triangle. (The "Triangle" being Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.) Because you are coming from the Bay area, you will love the price of real estate. Let me know if you have any questions about this area. I have been here for a while and know it well.

Good luck with your move!

Oh-thank you so much Saturnfan for the info on a vet for the cats-that will come in very handy! I have been using a mobile vet for a few years with them, so they wouldn't have to have stress related to their check-ups etc. I knew eventually that would have to change. I just want to make sure that they have a vet that is gentle and knowledgeable-I will check out Dr. Jon

GreenC-what a great little story- I can just see the cat sprawled out on the dash. Gosh- the day my younger cat does that, will be a miracle! She is more likely to put her claws into my lap, holding on for dear life, all the while howling!
Last time she went on a long road trip, she was in a big carrier, and she was doing fine, until I thought to let her out, just so she wouldn't feel isolated and lonely. She wedged herself first under the peddles, and then tried to perch on the dash, right in my field of view, and began howling. What a sight. She was mush younger then though.... Moderator cut: solicitation

One question not specific to Cary: What is the weather like in October in the triangle? Is it usually getting cold already, or more like an indian summer as they call it?

Thank you all.
Cheers,
Christina

October is my favorite month. Nice during the day, cool, but not too cold at night. Perfect football weather.

Our Mayble has her checkup tomorrow with Dr. Jon. I'm sure she will yowl all the way there, as always. Just like Garfield in the cartoons, cats know when it's vet time.

Dr. Allison has just joined Dr. Jon's team, and I hear good things about her too.

Good luck in Raleigh.

Christinabean,

So sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.

To answer your question - October is GLORIOUS! Just like Dire Wolf said, "Nice during the day, cool, but not too cool at night."

The trees change leaves and you find yourself taking the "back road" home from work just to enjoy the scenery. The weather is so nice that, for a couple of nights, you can turn off your A/C and sleep with the windows open and the ceiling fans running. This is also a great time of the year to take a road trip to Asheville and see the mountains in full color!

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Carrie

Hi Carrie,

Your post was a great reminder of part of why we are moving to NC to begin with! I love how green it is there and I can't wait to get to enjoy runs and walking through the parks there. I am so glad that we are moving at a time of year where we will be can still enjoy the outdoors. I have never lived in a place for an extended period of time, where I have to use AC all the time. I did spend my summers in the north east (where I lived full time before age 3)-I do remember the humidity and extreme need for the AC, but it has been a while
Can't wait to see the seasons change!

I was just speaking to a friend of my husbands, who also recommended a trip to Asheville. We have actually had a handful of folks say that...so we will just have to do that!!!

I can't wait. Thank you so much for your response and suggestion

Saturnfan-I can totally imagine the yowling marathon on the way to the vet! Good luck

NChomesomeday- I am so sorry to hear that about the lack of communication from the company you have been working with since June. I hope that either they wake up and realize what they are doing-or another company that is a good fit, snatches you up! Best of luck to you-it will happen

Cheers,

Christina

Thanks Christinabean. We have some other irons in the fire as well so we'll keep our fingers crossed. With a 16 year old, I was really hoping/needing to be down there before school started. Now I might have to rethink the overall timing and perhaps stay put here until he graduates. I don't yet know.
