Default Local?

Thanks Liz... I mapped out all of the places in NC and it looks like there is no place within 2 hours of the triangle. Does anyone know a local place that would sell the 'clumping' bamboo variety?

No, thats a thought tho. People do have them in the front yards...our house had one, that we keep digging up and mowing pieces of. There is another house accross the course from ours with big signs saying "beware of dogs" all the way around, and 2 huge rotweilers...and an invisible fence! The golf course is in their backyard and the cart path runs right next to the yard. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

I guess I don't understand why they need that much protection in such a safe neighborhood!

[quote=Dave O;1250533]I understand wanting a fence in order to keep your pets in the yard but IMHO the case for keeping your children safe from other animals is a bit overstated.

Are there really packs of roving dogs out there? I haven't seen them.

Forthermore if your child is so young that she can't safely interact with strange pets shouldn't you be supervising her play in the backyard anyway?

There are in my neighborhood! They come into our yard and bark and growl and bit someone a few months ago. Now no one walks down our street anymore. Animal control has been called countless times but they say that unless they catch them out they can't do anthing. We are getting ready to put a fence in because I don't feel my kids are safe.

I'm cracking up at the progression of this thread. Fences/backyards, dogs, guns, animal cruelty, bamboo, etc!

They're wicked smart herding dogs - they will herd your entire family, esp. the kids and other pets. They are also barkers. Their wonderful redeeming qualities make up for it in my opinion, so I put up with the barking. They know how things are supposed to be normally, and will run to tell you about *anything* that is not the way it should be - and I mean *anything*. Comes in handy when the food is starting to burn a bit on the pan that one has walked away from, for "just a minute".

Great turn this thread took - I agree.
