Most of my friends that are single hang out at community kickball leagues. And at Wing places.

Try meetup.com and look for activities that you would enjoy or like to try; community sports leagues (golf/raquetball/etc), hobbies (scuba/rock climbing), food/beer/wine tasting activities, and try regional professional associations/networks.

I have friends that say the same thing about women! Some wouldn't be good boyfriends for various reasons though...because of career or finding surrogates in the form of traveling/exploring, video games, and nice cars...

The Raleigh area isn't know for its single scene though. Sorry. Most people go there after they are married to have a family.

I know of a lot of late 20s-mid 40s women that are all single, and they all say the same thing. It's either women who partied a lot and never got too serious or are newly divorced. Either way, they still find plenty of guys interested in them, it's just not the marrying type I guess. Are there a lot of 40s singles in other areas? I feel like it's got to be the same everywhere. Glad I found a girl who likes me when I was 20, cuz I've got no game to be sure...

The decent guys in the 30-40s age group are looking for women in the 20s age group!

You have to take into consideration that by the time you're in your 30s and 40s, the heard has become VERY thin. You're dealing with divorcees, people who have never been able to find someone or just not fit to date more than a few times!

I don't envy anyone in that position. It's hard enough to find the right person in your early 20s when most everyone is available. By the time the pickings get slim....it's got to be brutal.

Default All the good ones are taken

I think most of the previous posts have touched on some of the most pervasive issues. Namely that Raleigh is known as a family orientated area thus there are few worthwhile singles either female or male here. This only gets amplified as you move up in to the age brackets that the OP mentioned and I suspect that has to do with the realities of career opportunities here in Raleigh.
