Remember, we're talking about people moving from Florida. The humidity in NC is not going to be nearly as high as it is there. I know, I live in both states.

I've lived in south Florida, and in the summertime it rains every afternoon. Not so here. Not sure what he was referring to. Maybe he had sunstroke at some point.

Moving from the Northeast, this place is awesome. I don't mind the heat, think its not as bad as Florida, and the mornings and evenings are gorgeous. Can't wait for the mild winter. My wife says she can't believe we will not have to live thru a harsh winter until its February and she isn't depressed!

BUT... I have lived in Hawaii, and been out west a bit and in Florida. Those skies are "bluer", but I agree with an above poster who said you can "use" more days here in NC than in FL. The summer is not nearly as brutal here. Once you get used to those blue skies, its hard to adjust to any other hue. BUT (again), I have a cousin who actually gets depressed if its sunny all the time! Different strokes....

Bottom line is the summers here in Florida are becoming intolerable for me. The constant heat indexes of 107-110 degree days are hitting my last nerve. I leave for work at 5:00 in the morning and it feels like someone is draping a warm hot blanket on me as soon as I walk outside. It wouldn't be so bad if these days were every now and then, but they seem to begin in May or June and continue without a break into the month of October (if we're lucky). Not a Halloween goes by when I go trick or treating with my kids that I return home drenched in sweat and my kids are begging to get into the air conditioning. Arg!!!!!!!!!

I've noticed that for the most part, it is only cloudy if it is actually going to rain/snow. We don't have those endless upon endless dreary days that we had in the North East where I grew up.

Since relocating to NC 4 years ago, I realize that I probably had some mild version of SAD, or maybe just the "winter blues." I love how sunny it is here!
