Default Starbucks expanding again; new store going in at Six Forks Station (former KFC)

New Starbucks to open in Triangle - Triangle Business Journal

Quote:
The new Starbucks drought will soon be over.
It’s been more than three years since Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) last opened a new coffee shop location in the Triangle region, but real estate sources say the Seattle-based company has signed a deal to open a new coffee shop on Strickland Road in north Raleigh by October.

Starbucks will be taking over the former KFC restaurant building located within the Six Forks Station shopping center, and it will have a drive-thru option for customers, says Phil Begany, of Lat Purser & Associates in Raleigh, who represented Starbucks in the lease negotiations.

The 2,715-square-foot building is owned by Weingarten Realty (NYSE: WRI), which is based in Houston. Ken Wygle of Weingarten Realty’s Raleigh office represented the landlord in the deal.

Begany, who specializes in tenant representation for retailers, says he picked up the Starbucks account in 2008 and this will be his first deal for the company in the Triangle region. Starbucks has more than 50 locations in the area, but only 16 of its Triangle shops have a drive-thru.
I had wondered what was going in there since they started renovation recently. Too bad I'm not a coffee drinker.

I live very near there and wondered what was going in that space. I was hoping it would be something a little more interesting than Starbucks, though! I guess with Borders closing, there isn't a "coffee place" in that area.

Every time I see a fast-food place close, I secretly hope a Biscuitville goes in there--but my waistline not-so-secretly thanks me when they don't!
