This morning there was a bicycle cop in the turn on McCrimmon Drive, right before the Church street intersection, and I was wondering if anyone knew what he was looking for. This isn't the first time that someone has been posted there. My coworkers and I are thinking that they are looking for people texting as they drive because at 8:15am there really isn't any speeding happening.

Why wouldn't there be speeding at 8:15 am? I imagine some folks are in a hurry to get to work, perhaps?

He's looking for speeders. Probably had a radar gun...happens all the time regardless what of time it is.

There is also a problem with people running the light there.

I said no speeding because it's bumper to bumper and no room for speeding. He didn't look to be holding anything and I didn't see any cars off to the side waiting for him to call in any speeders.

Watch out and do not encroach on the left turn lane. I got ticketed in Morrisville for crossing over the yellow line to get up to the left turn green arrow.

^^ LOL. it's not a trap. It's good police work.

My guess is that they are there to help with the flow of traffic. With a visible police presence people are less likely to be idiots and block the intersection at Church and Mckrimmon trying to eek through the light.

Well, Morrisville is pretty strict on crossing the yellow line for a turn lane, when at most of the intersections, there is plenty of room to sneak by and it actually helps traffic flow per light cycle. It should not be that bad at McCrimmon and Church now since they closed Church and Barbee off from 54.
