Eagle Ridge is one of my favorites, I' just dislike driving out to Garner to play the course. Chapel Ridge and The Preserve are great, the latter is tough, both are distant drives as well depending on where you live. If you know someone who can get you on at Preston as a guest they have three great courses.

South of Raleigh, you have Crooked Creek and Bentwinds in Fuquay, Keith Hills in Lillington and Reedy Creek in Four Oaks. Reedy Creek is the best value I have found, if it is not too far of a drive for you. If you don't mind going a little further, Sanford and beyond is really where you want to be...

Golfed at NC State's Lonnie Poole course yesterday thanks to Groupon. Rain started at the turn and when we asked for a rain check, they would only give us half of what we bought ($18.50, which equals 4 holes worth of golf), not a 9 hole rain check. Jeez, NC State...could you be any stingier? Regular rate is $75.00.

That being said it is a nice a long course (6500 from middle tee's). Greens could be in better shape - NC State does have a turfgrass management program in their Ag Dept. but guess they don't use them?

For the price, I'll stick with Findley or Duke.
