Can anyone comment on viatalk or vonage service using time warner 10mb cable internet?

Both have appealing rates but with so many mixed reviews on both, its hard to tell what is better. I am mostly thinking about customer service and reliablity / performance not about features (I have basic needs).

Thanks

Neither. Vonage is a rip off and will just tax you to death until your taxes are more then the actual phone bill.

I recommend VOIPO.com. All the same features but a heck of a lot cheaper. No contracts.

We had Vonage for a couple of years with DSL. It worked fine, but bandwidth/traffic contention could be an issue depending bandwidth allocations.
Vonage never skipped a beat with TW 10/1 service - but at that point TW phone is attractive too.

vonage and reliable faxing using a dedicated fax machine don't go together. I could only reliably fax during the early hours of the morning (4-6am) which was frustrating. It was clearly a bandwith issue -- with them, not us.

very frustrating when trying to receive or send faxes. so we moved to an online faxing service instead. other than that, vonage has been very reliable and cheap for our business to use.

I've had ViaTalk for 4+ years using Time Warner's 10Mb connection. In the beginning, there were a few issues that VT support helped me resolve with some config changes on my router. It has been rock solid recently. (Time Warner has occasional outages, of course.)

That said, next time we're up for renewal I think I may drop home phone entirely and just use cell phones.

I've been on Vonage for several years. Call quality used to be awful until TWC bumped upload speed from 384 kbps to 1 Mbps. Things are much better now, so while it's taken awhile to get there, we're now pleased with the service.

Asking us how service will work on your phone will do you no good. There are too many variables for anyone to predict how the service will work in your home or business. When it comes to any VOIP, the only way you'll know is through trial and error. Vonage was terrible for us. Ooma is just WONDERFUL. I wouldn't know how wonderful it was by asking anyone else about it. I had to order it, and hook it up.

Should be fast enough. Upload or "northbound" speed is more likely to be a limiting factor. I use Teleblend.

We've had Vonage for about 6 months now. It's worked good so far, however the taxes are pretty steep. The only reason we got it was because we can make free calls to the DR, if not we would've just kept the digital plan from TWC.....
