@MarkCanWrite: Sorry to hear the food at the Durham location for your birthday was a disappointment and the atmosphere was lacking. It sounds like I can save myself a trip to Durham now. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere & food at the Cary location. However, I did hear talk that the owners were going to reopen in Pinehurst - so hopefully it will have the same ambience and food... If the rumor is true, I'll have to drive down there to check it out and report back to the forum!

Please do. If it's anything like the one in Cary, it'll be worth the drive.

I actually wasn't that impressed with their fare when we had them in Sanford, and they only took cash. It was kinda odd....

Now, J. Bretski's.... that's something to brag about

I am sorry to hear they closed though, and was particularly sorry when they left Sanford as we can use all the variety we can get... even if I personally wasn't a huge fan. They did seem popular. First the Thai restaurant burned, then the Brathaus left

We went on the last day and one of the waitresses told us that the two owners broke their partnership and that was the main reason for it closing. Not the first time I've heard of a restaurant closing for that reason. Only one of the owners supposedly remains at the Durham location.

I always wonder about businesses who only take cash.

We went twice to the Durham location and were not impressed. It seemed overpriced. There have been multiple restaurants in this location and all failed. Last time I went they were still using a Papa John's doormat at their entrnace.

They don't want to deal with credit card fees or bounced checks.
