Default youngsville or clayton? pros cons please!

We found a home in youngsville that we like. But I still keep going back to look at Clayton, I just really like the area over near flowers plantation... and man that gym is great... prices close, property comparable looking...
They BOTH have horrible commute times for me (up to an hour to RTP) but I just can't decide...
HELP!
schools not an issue, our kids are older. We want smalltown feel, friendly, not too isolated with large wooded property. And access to good senior activities and (Lutheran) church for my mom.

If you plan to visit downtown Raleigh often then I would prefer Clayton to Youngsville.
