I will only eat at a few Waffle House locations. Most of them are nasty.

Havana Grill in Cary. The supposedly "authentic" Cuban food is digusting, service is awful, there's no A/C, and it's horribly overpriced. Oh, and they use paper plates and plastic utensils (even if you order the steak). This was the worst dining experience I've had in a long time.

Aw man I really like Havana Grill. I don't care about the plates, it's served cafeteria style which is common. I'm pretty sure there was A/C when I was there too. Maybe you're just not a Cuban food fan? It wasn't the best Cuban I've had, but it was probably the best we can get here. My major complaint was that the bread wasn't real Cuban bread.

I didn't mind Havana Grill, though when I ate there last it was not warm enough to require air conditioning. I thought the food was pretty good.

I love the food at Blue Corn Cafe on 9th St in Durham, which is kind of Pan-Central American, if there's such a thing. They have wonderful picadillo.

I don't even mind Armadillo Grill, but I have only been to the ones in Carrboro and at Duke. I think you have to be in a sort of starving student craving bad fake Mexican food to enjoy it, though. Filling out the paper slips doesn't bother me, as I was trained at the much beloved Char Grill in Raleigh.

Thanks for your kind welcome....

I wasn't trying to be unkind. I was actually trying to be helpful. You have every right to your opinion about the way food is prepared and eaten here, and you certainly don't have to eat it. Personally, I couldn't care less whether you like the food or not. I was simply trying to warn you that if you go around saying things like you posted here, you're going to alienate yourself from your native neighbors pretty quickly.

Yes, things are going to be different here. I encountered differences five years ago when I moved here from Texas. The important thing is not to voice aloud your extreme dislike for the differences. You can say you're joking all you want, but people will lose the joke amidst the negativity.

Who knows - one day someone might catch you eating fried chicken, and enjoying it. Never say never.

And welcome to North Carolina!

Default Wyndham Garden Hotel on S. Miami Blvd

Terribly expensive breakfast with little selection. Has no right to charge $13 for scrambled eggs and grits. At a luxury hotel I could understand it, but not here. Worst part was that the prices weren't posted anywhere, so we were shocked to pay double what we expected.

I hate to call them out but

Chopstix Chinese Restaurant, Avondale Drive Suite B, Durham, NC 27704

Overcooked soggy shrimp in shrimp fried rice

Panda Inn Chinese Restaurant,4600 Durham Chapel Hill Blvd, Durham,NC

All I know is I had bad stomach pangs one minute the next minute I was sweating profusely and my skin was clamy and turning cold by the minute. That was the worst that I have ever felt thus far in my whole life. All I could do was sit in the lavatory praying telling god that it was not my time. I honestly thought that I was dying and almost called 911 for help. God answered my prayer and I was okay within the next 10 minutes. All for chicken wings and shrimp fried rice. Don't do it people it was not worth it. I should have gone with my instincts.

There was a Panda Inn on Six Forks in Raleigh.

Had a great buffet once, but went straight down. Shut by health dept.

Hope these aren't the same crew.

Whoever came up with this ordering concept, it is NOT charming.

We should have returned the food and asked for our money back. Perhaps it's sufficient we will not patronise the eatery again. Bad stuff. Even my three year old and 18 month old wouldn't eat it.

And the place was huge, with a full bar and outside seating, view of fairly cool factory-themed fountain.

A pox on Armadillo Grill.
Glad it's not just me that was annoyed by that place.
The Village deli is ok but way overpriced. Plus they open at 10 on a Saturday morning... I wanted an egg sandwich for my son b/f hockey (9 am) & a coffee for me! No go. So, We got it after the game- cost like $5 for that! Never again.
There is an ok pizzeria in the Factory now.
Also, jumping beans, which is a kids play place, has a REAL espresso machine! So I will be going there again for sure(You can get coffee there w/o going into the play area)

Default Ruby Tueday @ Capitol Blvd. & Old Wake Forest

Horrible experience there at Ruby Tuesday. We came in last year with family that was visiting. Our baby was asleep so we were trying to take advantage of a quiet meal before he woke up. The waiter set us at a table and we asked for a booth. The waitress had a hissy fit because she had to clear off a booth and snapped at the waiter. We were seated and basically were ignored. People that came in after us were served and had their food and we weren't even served drinks. Pretty much she was mad we changed out minds about the seating and refused to serve us. I contacted Ruby Tuesday and they did not apologize or explain themselves. We just ended up leaving and going across the street to Macaroni Grill where we received excellent service with an awake child.
