My husband is thinking about a second career -- he's currently an attorney and not exactly enjoying the practice. He's a smart guy, and would be willing to go back to school for a bit of training. We're planning to relocate to Raleigh in a couple of years, so he'd ideally switch careers to something that would be in demand once we relocate. Any thoughts???
Tax attorneys are always in demand.
RTP area business have legal departments that work on trademark, unfair trade practices, patent, research, and other non criminal and non real estate areas.
These aren't specific jobs but area that I know hire a lot in the triangle:
Engineering
pharmaceuticals (esp sales and marketing)
higher education-lots of colleges in the area
medical care -lots of hospitals and medical facilities in the area
IT
Thanks for responding. I'm curious about your response about tax attorneys. I'm actually a tax attorney and so I would be looking to stay in that field once we move down. Are most of the tax attorney positions in house or at firms? I was a bit afraid that the market wouldn't be very strong for tax attorneys, but you give me hope that it's otherwise!
Apparently CPA's are in high demand, but that'd be quite a bit of training (and college coursework).
