Hello Raleigh-ers! My DH has a meeting tomorrow in the 27612 area code and I kinda don't want to sit in the lobby since it could take a little while. What is in the area? Are there any walkable-ish areas/shopping centers? I will have a car. Yelp is telling me of the New World Coffee House.. any good?? Thanks!

Crabtree Valley mall is in that zip. Don't know how close it will be to the office to you are going to be at, though. Zip code areas are usually pretty large and not always walk-able. There are also strip malls on both sides of that particular coffee house.

new world coffee house used to be one of my favorite haunts but it went under new management within the last year or so & i've not been impressed with the quality of the food or coffee, but that's me.

like someone mentioned, there is crabtree mall. or if you want more variety for shopping, brier creek (though it's a bit out from 27612).

Can you give a more specific location? Most of 27612 is residential neighborhoods, though as they say, Crabtree Valley Mall is there. They have a Barnes & Noble (though it's not in the mall proper, but in the smaller building across the parking lot).

Of course, if you have a car, you need not be stuck in 27612.

If you like indoor shopping, Crabtree Valley Mall.

If you like outdoor shopping, Brier Creek or North Hills.

With a car, these may be about 10 minutes from where you are. What else do you like to do?

North Hills, although smaller, is more interesting than Crabtree, IMHO. It's minutes from Crabtree. I'd go there.

Crabtree, on the other hand is just another mall. A nice mall, but just another mall. You could also grab a movie at North Hills if you wanted.

Funny, that happens to be my zip code

Crabtree Valley Mall is definitely the biggest "attraction". You mentioned the New World Coffee House - there's a big shopping area around there as well. Also, check out the shopping area on the corner of Blue Ridge and Edwards Mill, and several smaller ones north of the mall on Creedmoor.

Of course, there's absolutely no reason to stay confined to one zip code. The beauty of 27612 IMO is that it's kind of close to everything - downtown, midtown (i.e. North Hills area), Cary, NC State, RDU, all of these are 15 min drive or less.

27603 has to be the strangest zip code in all of Wake County. It goes from DT all the way to just east of Fuquay Varina.

As for the OP, I'd advise using the car and going to the NC Museum of Art. It's close to 27612 and worth the trip.
