Very informative thread. This might help the Holly Springs folks:

That has to be a connection fee in there. In Charlotte I only pay about $28 month.

Water rates seem to be set at the county level, although it seems like Holly Springs get to set their own?

Anyway, here's the rates for Union and Meck Counties for comparison. Just glancing at the tables, Holly Springs is WAY high!

Union County:

When all of the water restrictions were mandated in the Raleigh area, I had read on the Holly Springs Web site that this didn't affect them..they have their own water supply from what I understood. That would account for the price difference from other areas.
Any info on Johnston county water rates?

When we moved from Cary to Apex our water bill doubled. I have no clue why. I agree the sewer charge is ridiculous. There is no sewer meter, the sewer charge is based on how much water you use. Our average water bill is $120 a month for a family of 6.

DOes anyone use this meter for outside water sewer credit? I didn't think about getting one because I've been told it's expensive $500 but now I think it's well worth it!

Wow!

I pay $40 each quarter year... I guess there is 1 advantage to living by the Great Lakes.

Whats the typical electric bill with AC going on down there? Say for month of July? 2000-2500 sq foot home if anyone has one of those "small shacks" lol

Our house is 2040 sq ft of heated space, and we pay about $300 a month in the summer for electric, in the winter it's about $100 a month. I have had the rare bill over $350 but that's uncommon. Flip flop the numbers for gas in the winter.

Yikes

But wouldnt 'winter' only be Dec-Feb? (some falling over to November and March I understand but the "meat" of winter being those 3 months when you get the big bills)

And hot humid summer Jun-Aug?

I can live without AC in low 80s weather quite easily...

So I would think the spring/fall-ish months like say April/May or October should see quite low bills as you don't need a ton of heat or a ton of AC on all those days in the 60s/70s.
