Usually I can adjust the antenna and get reception that only occasionally breaks up for most of the other channels. WRAL is the worst, though, no matter what I do unless the stars are aligned perfectly I can't get WRAL without the video breaking up for a bit every 5-10 seconds.

Rabbit ears antennas usually do a lot better at picking up VHF frequencies rather than UHF ones. Traditionally, people have used a loop antenna to pickup up channels in the UHF band. The OTA signal for WTVD is the only local station that still broadcasts within the VHF band.
The topic we're discussing though, is getting the local stations in digital format via TWC's coax line without a digital cable box as opposed to getting a signal over-the-air.
