I think it's because usually drug stores are something you can put off... if it's not on the side of the road you're on (say.. Capital Blvd) and you generally can wait until tomorrow, where you might not be able to skip the grocery store, you might skip it because of the inconvenience of crossing the street. Yes, I get how ridiculous that sounds but I stand by my theory lol. So if they are on both sides of the street, people will stop in for their quick errand rather than waiting til they go to Target/Walmart, etc.

I don't think many people know it's there. Most of the businesses in that strip mall are probably struggling except Dos Toquitos. The Walgreens will hurt Rite Aid when they open.

Seems to be that the Rite Aid is the old model of drugstore and the huge, new Walgreens, on the corners, are the new model.

Seems odd to have so many around but I think the same thing about dry cleaners...there is one in every strip mall!

I'd rather have a gas station than yet another drug store. I hope the Walgreens is made to have a black and white sign!

I believe this Rite-Aid, like the one in the Stonehenge Shopping Center, used to be an Eckerd. Don't recall whether either of those stores was in the original (that is, pre-1996) Kerr Drug chain.

Yes, it was always a Eckerd's (lived in Turnberry, behind the shopping center, from 1989-2005). Kinda sad to see the gas station go, but it's just how things roll.

I haven't been in the area for a couple years. I assumed their business slowed down because of the housing market. Maybe that is a good sign.

Drug stores are no longer just Drug stores. They are more like convience stores. They sell beer, milk, eggs, tobacco products, snacks, energy drinks etc...and yes they open across from each other in the North too

I'm sure it will be bright red like all the rest
