Hi guys, first post to this forum (woohoo). I have a respiratory issue that has been diagnosed as a few different things, and the only solutions I've gotten have been an inhaler and a host of allergy drugs.

Are there any Pulmonologists in the area that will try to find the root of my problem, or offer alternative techniques to solving my problem? I try to take modern drugs and meds as an absolutely last resort.

I am on a pretty good insurance plan, so most doctors are covered, but I do know that holistic doctors are NOT covered, so I can't really afford that route, otherwise I would in a heartbeat! Thanks!

You could try the Duke Asthma, Allergy, and Airways center. They did prescribe me an inhaler but after doing allergy testing, which I found useful. I was finally "cured" of my asthma when my cat eventually died. Good luck!

I was "cured" of my asthma when I stopped eating wheat.

I am sure there are plenty of people on expensive asthma meds who could be "cured" of asthma by finding out what they're allergic to -- cats, wheat, or whatever.

Like me, they were probably prescribed inhalers (maybe pills), and that was that. It's sad I had to diagnose and "cure" myself, even though I went to more than one doctor to find answers.

^^^ Agree. Its annoying when it turns out meds are not cures. I'm now experimenting with a non-dairy diet to control eczema, which is also related to asthma. if its not one thing, its another! This after trying meds from the dermatologist.

Duke's Allergy Center is amazing. If you can get an appointment over there I'd try giving them a visit.

Nice, I will definitely try to get one! I've been on a plant based food diet with no wheat for a few days. We'll see in a few weeks, especially once the temps drop and air dries out, how I'm feeling. Thanks for all the comments!

I believe any general practice doctor can do a full range of allergy tests as well. (Mine can.)

Correction -- I believe a GP can do a full range of blood work to identify some allergies. I think skin tests are done by allergists.

If it's a airborne allergy try local honey. The bees produce the honey with what bothers you so you build up a rsistance to the problem. @vmrl try urine therapy it's free (Thread: UT and eczema questions at Urine Therapy Support Forum (ThreadID: 124195)) ...........if you think it is disgusting check the labels on your makeups and look for urea (Urea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) or carbamide that whats in makeup.
