Where to live between Durham and Raleigh?
I'm looking for somewhere to Rent (house, town home, apartment), in a good neighborhood between Durham and Raleigh. Are there any nieghborhoods or areas which are nicer than others? Any idea where I should start to look for houses/apartments/townhomes?
I'll be moving just as myself, so big isn't necessarily important, but price also isn't an issue.
I'd prefer a garage, if possible, and the bigger the better! There are things in Durham I want to be near, but I'll be commuting to Raleigh.
Where should I start looking?

The area around Leesville Road north of Highway 70 and around Page Road south of 70 are both good locations for easy access to both Durham and Raleigh. You might also like the area around Mineral Springs Road off of Highway 98 which has some nice neighborhoods. The Page Road area is getting more and more congested with apartment complexes and shopping centers so it depends what you are looking for. The Mineral Springs Road area will be less expensive; Leesville Road area will be a bit more.

What part of Durham are you trying to be near and what part of Raleigh are you commuting to? That'd help narrow some things down a bit.

how old are you? If you are young, you might want to stay out of the 'burbs.

I'm trying to be near Crossfit Durham with a reasonable commute to downtown Raleigh. A number of places I've found off the interstate list 25-35 minute commutes, which I would take to be closer to the gym. Crossfit is a huge part of my life, and crossfitdurham looks like the kind of place I want to be.
It's located on West Geer street.
I'm 23, but I'm not a huge nightlife person. I'm more interested in musicals and cuisine than clubs and bars. I also like to be on the first floor of places, and I'm noticing a lot of apartments and studios don't offer that option, or it would be hard to get.
"Fitness centers" in complexes rarely have bumpered weights, and sometimes it's nice to lift outside of the crossfit box.

I'm not "into" CrossFit myself, so I don't know anything about it. But isn't there a CrossFit place in downtown Raleigh, on Salisbury Street, kind of behind the old Briggs Hardware building? I believe I've seen that there. Do you really need to go all the way to the one in West Durham?
Realistically, downtown Raleigh and West Geer Street in Durham are not all that close to each other, so no place is going to be super-close and convenient to both of them. That's why people are recommending places roughly halfway in between, such as Brier Creek. In addition, think I would also suggest Morrisville, which has a number of nice rental options, and it's both a reasonable commute to downtown Raleigh, and reasonably accessible to Geer Street in Durham. Morrisville is very suburban and a little bland, but it's a perfectly decent place to live, and may suit your situation well.
