I am with you librarySue, those Rider jeans are fantastic- they really are made to last... they are my favorite and most comfy pair of jeans. I used to duck for cover too about where I got them, but then, I just remember that TV commercial that was on a while back, where one woman says to another "Parlez vous GOOD DEAL?" To me, they are a great deal and I wear them everywhere and they look great :-)

Don't overlook J.C Penney. My kids love their jeans and, oddly, their underwear. There is one in North Hills, so you can also get coffee, ice cream and a movie!

I'm almost ashamed to admit, but I buy majority of my 2yo son's clothes at Walmart. They Garanimals line for the boys is awesome! I love the bright colors and simple styles much better than what's sold at the brand name stores.

I too am a Riders jeans fan. They fit me better than other discount brands (I'm not a fashionista, so haven't tried the $$$ jeans) and hold up very well.

I really like the look of Kohl's and Target's women's lines of blouses/shirts (Apt. 9, Merona, Mossimo, etc.), but I really *hate* that they don't hold up better. Two or three washings and they've lost that "new shirt look" and picked up one of my biggest pet peeves of all time: the hems of the shirts and sleeves "flip up" and won't stay down unless I iron/starch them. HATE THIS. I'd love to find another option for casual wear that doesn't have the quality issues.

I usually can find really good deals at Target, although their selection hasn't been the greatest lately. I also am a big clearance and coupon user. I find a lot of good deals at Macy's. Macy's always has coupons around and good clearance. Most of the time you can use the coupons on the clearance. If you have a card they send you coupons often.

I go to Coldwater Creek in the local mall to see what they're selling. Then I go online to Coldwater Creek outlet store online. They have regular sales off the online outlet prices several times a year, especially at the end of the season. If it arrives and I don't like it, I can return it to the mall and not pay shipping prices.

Do they still have the Kid's Club at Sears? We used to buy jeans there when ours were little.

I second the suggestions for Walmart jeans and for Kohl's. I never buy anything full price at Kohl's. If you wait a week or so and have a coupon, you can get a lot of stuff for not a lot! Their sales are great!

My college student likes to shop first for his clothes at Plato's Closet behind Triangle Town Center. Quality trendy stuff. We find amazing deals on shoes for him at Marshall's. We even found a very expensive ski coat and ski pants at TJ Maxx last season for 1/3 the regular price.

Mom is a different story. I start at Belk's and move on from there.
