Is it me or do you find it strange that McDonalds is on that list? I, to this date, have yet to see a McDonalds employee like/love their job much and to add to the fact that the majority are paid right around minimum wage and the benefits are junk and expensive most just get on medicade.

I do agree that SAS is an excellent place to work along with Cisco. I'm shocked that Siemens was not on the list.

On the rare instance I go to McDonald's it's at the Cary Crossroads location. I am always amazed at how happy and cheerful those employees are.

If I go, it's almost always for breakfast and I could only wish I could be as friendly and energtic as those people are in the morning.

I don't know why they are so happy, but they always are

Aside from the omnipresent retail chains (Starbucks, Nordstroms, CarMax) tech companies Netapp, Intuit and Qualcomm also have a local presence. I'm guessing I missed a few.

I'm surprised to see Quintiles on the list. The CRO industry is known for a difficult workload, although there is job stability.

I'm not so sure about job stability at Quintiles. The company has laid off many employees over the last couple of years and offshored many of those positions. I guess if you're one of the lucky ones who survived ... and yes, an increasingly large portion of retention in general is luck nowadays, rather than skill ... it's probably a great place to work.

The number of resumes I see from people at Quintiles suggests otherwise...!

Hmm, Roche is also on that list. I wonder if the workers who were relocated to the SF bay area and then let go would feel the same.
