theres a LOT of threads on the board about home security - small/local vs corporate, whether to get a dog/shotgun etc etc
I'm looking at the options now - and have come across Wiley Systems who seem to be a good local firm - however there's no mention of them on all of these threads!
Anyone have any experience with these guys? They seem to have some good technology?
How about turning the question around...
do you have any experiences where a dog or a shotgun...
or an alarm for that matter would have been appropriate?

Nope - doesn't help, and dont want to get into a debate as to the virtues of alarms. Just looking to see if anyone knows these guys
There are so many of these firms. IMO it's all about the monitoring. Find out if they do their own monitoring or if they farm it out to one of the bigger companies (for example, Rapid Response). If it's one of the bigger ones, do some research on them. If it's one of the smaller types, like 2 local people in a closet somewhere downtown, I'd personally avoid that. There are firms who have high end operations inhouse (I think CPI is one local example).
You can do some googling for "five diamond monitoring stations" to see the very top end rated places. All stations have to be UL certified, I believe. But you'll have differences in response time, customer service, etc. The problem with 2 guys in a room is when you have any kind of mass event and they can't keep up with the calls.
I'm not sure, I'm not familiar with them. You might want to check out diy alarm forum -- there are pros there who might have the scoop on the national stations.
We used Wiley's back in 2000 for a security system. They did a good job. We used them again to put in an intercom system for a different house in 2005 and again they did a good job.
Does anyone have a number to call Wiley’s that works? Or someone will answer? Our alarm started blinking it said
Commutations cut or trouble. We turned it off, we set the alarm and opened a door to set off alarm. Wiley’s has not its been 30 minutes and they have not called???
I have tried there number, they only have a recorder, I have looked for a emergency numberwe can not find any number? This is scary and inexcusable! Should I call the police?
Does anyone have a emergency number for Wiley’s alarm company in the Raleigh nc area.
I have tried to call the company and can not reach them.
Our alarm went off tonight saying the communications were cut. We reset it, no one called!
We set the alarm opened a door and set off the alarm. NO one called from Wiley’s, it has been 30 minutes? I have tried to find a emergency number on line and there is no numbers but the office that goes to a recorder. This crazy, should I call the police?
I would appreciate any advise so we can go to sleep. I know we are changing companies tomorrow!
Thank you
