We were in the Kelly building, and the kids petted plenty of goats. And then they went outside and washed the hands at the big washing station located right outside the door. But I saw tons of people letting their kids pet animals, eat food, pet animals and then walk right past the washing station. My kids also held the baby chicks, milked the cows, etc. etc. just like they do every year. We are just very careful to wash our hands RIGHT after.
So, no, it will not stop me from going in the Kelly bldg. It will just make me continue to practice good hand washing.
I agree. I wonder how many folks used hand sanitizer instead of actually washing their hands.
I heard the parents of the little boy from Shelby, that was in the hospital, and they said they did wash his hands. Accidents happen. I hate when it happens to children.
Ugh I heard an interview with the mother of this family on WTVD this evening. I understand they're upset but I think they're being ridiculous. Considering all the precautions the Agricultural Commission puts in place what they're asking for is a bit absurd. The mother even admitted to her son petting some goats despite signs all over the building saying not to touch the animals to avoid contamination.
I'm sorry, but I agree that their anger is misplaced. Anger over animals at the fair is ridiculous. That's what the fair is about. I'm sorry their child got sick, but you can't protect your kids from everything, even in a plastic bubble. The fair has always and will always have live farm animals
