$20/head shouldn't be that difficult. I think our rehearsal dinner was about $18/head and it was a sitdown meal at a nice restaurant.

Catering actually isn't a bad idea either. I know that caterers like Catering By Design in Cary have their own private dining rooms where they can do the rehearsal dinner for you.

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the food at Casa Carbone. It is my favorite Italian restaurant; although, I'm not often impressed with their attitude or the service! Doesn't stop me from going as I love their chicken parm and their bread!

We had a dinner at The Peddler Steak House. They gave us a private room and allowed us to do our own decorations. I don't remember the price but we had a set menu with serveral choices.

Hubby's company has their dinners at Sullivans and we always get a private room. Excellent service!

Vicki

Some suggestions (and repeats from PPs): Margaux's (they also cater), 18 Seaboard, The Peddler, Vivace, Cafe Luna, Coquette

Thanks for the extra ideas of places to look into! We will get to googling this weekend!!!

As for the poster who suggested going up to $30pp, I can't bring myself to pay more per person for the rehearsal dinner than we are the reception... and the reception includes so much more for that price! You also must remember that people set budgets for a reason.... we refuse to go into debt, or put our parents into debt, for a one day event. Our budget is limiting our choices, but it doesn't mean it can't be done.

Thanks again everyone!

total word to you. best of luck for your search. i just celebrated four years of marriage in october & while the food was important in terms of making our guests feel our appreciation for their trek out to our wedding, the food was not the highlight of our day or our subsequent new chapter together in life!
