I'm also looking for a dermatologist. I have to have a skin check every year - my last dermatologist before I moved down here would remove anything suspicious at the same visit. So far, the ones I've talked to down here will make you come back for a follow up appointment. Does anyone know of any down here that will do everything in just one visit?

One of my visits to Dr. O'Rourke (referenced in an earlier post) was to have a couple of moles checked. She removed them in the same visit.

I highly recommend Dr. Atwater at Duke Dermatology - Patterson Place (near 40 and 15/501). I realize it's a little far from Raleigh, but I think it is definitely worth the drive.

She is proactive and caring, even emailing or calling me directly to discuss biopsy results and surgery options several times. I have had several instances of skin cancer in the past few years so this is important to me.

I agree about wanting everything done in one visit. Dr. Atwater has always done biopsies in the same appointment for me. Also, she suggested that I follow up more than once per year.

I see Dr Nasir at Wake Dermatology

He has found one melanoma and a pre-melanoma so he's doing alright by me , but I do see him every four months

I went to Blue Ridge Dermatology and they did one visit, all questionable moles removed same visit. One came back iffy, I go back in 6 months. Very good service, imo.

For those that have had a melanoma, I strongly recommend Kelly Nelson at Duke. She is one of the best. She is very busy, so you may need to wait a bit for an appointment.
