Weird question I know.
Does anyone know when Johnston Co kindergarten really starts?? I thought school started this past Monday but I have a friend that is saying her child doesn't start until Sept. 5th (I don't know if I should believe her--long story!) I know in Wake Co. they have staggered start for kindergarteners in some of the schools. Your insight is greatly appreciated!!

tcurrie2,

They do the same in Johnston County for kindergarten. So your friends child may not start until the 5th. I know that in Johnston Co. they bring in half the kids first, they get a week off so the second half can start and then they bring them all in together.

I think they use this week to do the kindergarten screening before they actually start.

We had my son's "assessment" on Tuesday. A week from this friday (9/7) is my son's first day of school. I heard that half of Kindergarteners will be coming in Thursday (9/6) and the other half on Fri 9/7. Then they all are together on the following Monday, 9/10.

So for our elementary (River Dell), the answer is 9/10. My 3rd grader started school 2 days ago.

Lauren
