How many times did it actually snow last year and what was accumulation in our area? Just trying to get kind of prepared but I could easily do without one single flake for many years to come.

I'm going from memory and I'm sure I will be proven wrong

First snow was Christmas Eve or Christmas day last year. We got a few inches.

I believe after that we had two snow storms within a week of each other in late January. One pretty significant (for around here) at 8 or so inches (in my backyard).

Maybe one more snow storm in Feb, but I can't recall with any certainty.

I've been here for 4 winters now and in that time we have had about two decent snow storms per year. Maybe a handful of other snowy weather days, but they don't accumulate.

And it actually snowed before x-mas..around the 16th or 17th as well...I had to drive a lot that day, so it stands out in my mind.

It snowed on Dec 4 last year in Durham, just a dusting. It was the same day as Durham's Christmas festival and Rock & Shop Market. It was somewhere between 1/2 and 1 inch downtown.

Christmas Evening/overnight to the 26th it snowed about 4 inches, or at least it seemed that way. Plenty of snow in Duke Park for sledding.

It dusted a few separate times overnight in February, if memory serves correct. Nothing that stuck past 9am, though.

You're right. We were having our Christmas Luncheon at work that day. I should refrain from posting any more responses that involve going from memory.

Yes, Wake County schools were on a snow day that day. We had to come back from Christmas break a day early.

Of course, the fact that we had a "weather day" doesn't actually mean that any flakes flew but I do remember it was icy if not snowy.

We got real accumulation the day after Christmas last year.

Had another "weather day" around the middle of January...think that was more icy-ness than anything.

I think we had two in January because my first day of spring classes were canceled....the whole parking lot of my complex was completely iced over! I had to get new tires after that...I learned a lesson in tread that time.

It snowed on December 4 last year… the day of the Glenwood-Brooklyn house tour. That's why I remember it so clearly ;-)

Everyone was so surprised.
