I welcome/encourage, new "hipster food", at the market (only recently a few have applied, but were too close to current vendor food/menu). And, I am loyal to folks who have been there, rain or shine, stifling heat, bitter cold, year after year after year................. I grew up in NYC and would love to have a real kosher/kosher style deli truck. (my mouth is watering for a hot corned-beef sandwich). Anyone?
Definately give the Flea Market a try. I have a permanent booth inside the Education bldg and I am happy to say, the food truck business is expanding there!

Yeah you have to give those people props. My parents were a vendor out there for a couple of years and as a kid, spending all weekend in the blaring heat or freezing cold sucked. My sister and I were glad when they gave it up.

OK, I am a huge supporter (see my posts in this thread), but I have to say that they did not get the "rain or shine" memo yesterday. I was there around 1PM, and all but one of the food trucks, and MOST of the vendors were gone. I realize that the weather could not possibly be crappier, and that it was superbowl Sunday, but I had talked a friend into driving down from N. Raleigh to meet me for a slice and to walk around, and luckily I got there early enough to call them off. ('cause the pizza guy was gone).
Mostly very happy with everything, but this is feedback that you need, and I hope you'll pass it along to your vendors. (Hopefully it was just a Superbowl thing, and not typical. It was certainly the first and only time I've experienced it.)

1PM in general is pretty late out there. Even on a nice day if business has been slow a lot of the vendors will be packing up by 1pm.

I like the flea market, but I don't really consider the food vendors out there "Food Trucks". They are pretty much just basic fair food vendors in fixed locations that don't set up anywhere but the flea market on Sat/Sun from 8-noon. So it's not just that the fair does not have any of the more popular mobile food trucks, it's that the ones they do have never go anywhere else and therefore aren't very mobile.
