I am interested in opening up a foreign language day care center in Apex/Cary, North Carolina. I see pre-school poping up quickly, but most are based on school calendar which is not very accomodating to working parents. I'd like to distinguish mine by offering a year-round Chinese langauge immersion program. It is important to learn a foreign language from a very young age. The center teaches kids Chinese and only conerses in Chinese. I'd like to start a forum to see if there would be a need or interest for such a specialty day care in this area. Welcome any ideas or suggestions!

There used to be pre-school called Language Tots (on Old Apex Rd., Cary) that offered foreign language in its program, however I understand it closed in June 2011.

The reason for its closure I am unaware of.

I would definitely send my kids to such a school. I've been lamenting for awhile that there doesn't seem to be an language immersion programs for Asian languages in this area. I would maybe tour schools like Spanish for Fun to get an idea of how their programs work and what the price ranges tend to be.

I know there is such a preschool in Durham or Chapel Hill--might want to investigate what they offer and how many students they have, etc as a business model. I'm sure SW Wake cty could benefit from such a school as well, but you'd want to do some market research before investing in something so specialized. You can contact the Small Business/Technology Development Center for free business counseling and market research (I used to work there).

Last time I drove by it looked like it may be back in operation and no longer for sale. It's on Old Apex Road if you want to take a drive and see if maybe I'm mistaken.

Yeah. Little Panda in Durham is an immersion program.

I think it's possible that it would do well in Cary. There's a large Chinese population here. I have to wonder if it would do well under anything but Chinese or Taiwanese management, though.
