I've been reading a bunch of the "new to the area" posts because we are relocating to the area soon. I will be posting later with more questions but I thought I would start with the most pressing need first. My husband is transferring with his job to Wake Forest. He will be there mid-February and the rest of us will follow after school is out in June. Does anyone have a recommendation on temporary housing? We have looked at extended stay hotels and even considered buying a 5th wheel for him to stay in. I've been looking on craigslist but haven't had much luck so far. I don't think he needs to be in Wake Forest to be close to work just from what I've seen. He doesn't really want to rent a room in someone's house and we don't want to get into a lease until I get out there. Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of apartment complexes in North Raleigh that offer short-term "corporate" leases as they call them. They offer furnished and unfurnished. Prices vary by apartment. The leases can be as short as 1 month but most require a minimum of 3 months. I know that many of the complexes in the Brier Creek area offer corporate leases as I used to have to set them up for people at my previous job. Just call around to complexes you are interested in and ask if they have such leases available.

I rented a place for 3 months in the Raleigh area. The rent tends to be about $30 to $50 higher per month than a year lease, but it's worth it to not be trapped in a year lease. Like eva said, call around to complexes and ask. Several ones in the WK area are: Bexley at Heritage, Woodlands at Wakefield Plantation, Falls Creek Apartment and Townhomes.

I also inquired at Trinty Park Apartments, which does 6 month leases for $90-100 more than a year lease. Even with renting furniture at about $300/month, it was cheaper than an extended stay hotel.

I am in that situation right now. However my job is in Cary so I'm in a condo over on that side of town...
But, I used a company called "Home Suite Home" 919-881-7722, They offer places all over the place ans will create a contract with daily weekly or monthly cost (really affordable, utilities and internet included) I only needed a place ror 13 days until we close on our temporary TINY house (we will house hunt for another one and eventually rent the first one out) and they arranged this for $58 night.
I have a beautiful 1 bedroom furnished condo here with washer/dryer, 25 steps to the clubhouse with gym and pool.
Give them a try.

Another option would be Residence Inn or Towneplace Suites, both owned by Marriott. I don't know if there is one in Wake Forest but there are quite a few in the triangle area. I've stayed in Residence Inns many times and they are very comfortable.
