I am moving from NY to Raleigh in June. A lot of people I know have moved down there in search of jobs and I think I want to do the same. I need to find a decent place, however, and I am not sure of the area or which places are the best.
I will have a roommate so I need a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. We would like rent to be no more than $700 each month and would like to live within 10 minutes of the downtown or even in the downtown if that is possible.
I found this place online and it seems to have alright reviews...
Also, we are both internet marketers and make our incomes online. Therefore, it is crucial that we live in a place with high speed internet access. A fitness area would also be great. Pool isn't necessary. Furnished places are obviously what we are striving for.
If you could recommend some suitable properties for me, that'd be a great help.
Keep in mind those apartments are in what some people would consider a rough area. They're one block away from the Heritage Park projects. That said, that area these days is much safer than what it was 20 years ago.

I was raised in project areas in CT and NY...not that that means I want to be an idiot and move to more projects in NC.
Really just depends on what you're looking for. Some people would have no qualms living over there. Others might not like the fact it's not a squeaky clean area. I would recommend driving around the neighborhood both during the day and at night to see what you think. Of course that is good advice for any apartment complex.

Absolutely. I will probably take a trip around April or May. Is there any public transportation in Raleigh? Particularly taxis?
We have taxis but they're kind of expensive. From that area you can walk to the free bus that circles downtown and have easy access to the Raleigh bus system and the Triangle Transit regional buses. You can also walk to the Amtrak station from there though a bit more of a trek.

There certainly are taxis in Raleigh. If you stay downtown, you can get around the downtown districts by the RLine circulator bus (it's free). You can also get around by bicycle rickshaws at night.
Depending on what level of luxury you seek, you can certainly get into DT Raleigh for $1400 a month for a two bedroom. Raleigh DT stock includes luxury apartments and condos as well as more modest post war complexes and apartments in smaller buildings that dot the area. The new luxury apartments are going to be higher than your budget but there are other options. Within a ten minute drive of DT, there are LOTS of options in your price range.

Thank you for responding to my thread!
That's pretty cool that the RLine is free. Are there any specific sections of Raleigh or maybe some streets that would be nice to live on? I hear that the downtown is THE place to be, so I'm thinking that living right in DT would be the best option.

Don't believe that until you visit and decide it's so,
