The thing about BBQ competition is you don't get to eat the competition meats usually. But they do have vendors selling BBQ. But it's not whole hog, it's the regular competition meats.

Does anyone know more specifics about this Peak City Pig Fest?

Their website is very pretty, but actually is pretty sparse on details.

It says the event is on Salem St in Downtown Apex, but that's a long streatch of street. Even if they are going to close down a section, they should say what parts will be closed, where the actual BBQ will be served (so I can tell my friends where to meet up with me), and maybe offer hints at the good places to park, and if there will be parking fees.

Any help!???

Thanks, (I finally found that map myself, after a considerable search effort - why it isn't referenced in the main website I don't know).

Also, that is a VERY confusing map. It took me about 5 minutes to lay it side by side to Google maps ad figure out that North is down and to the left. And I still was looking to see what else might be there. Google says there are a couple of bars and ice cream places there, but it's hard to confirm or locate.

All in all, for a festival who's main purpose is to bring in outsiders and introduce them to Apex, it's not that Outsider Friendly a webpage or map.

I'm still going, but I'm hosting a group of 10 or 15 individuals and couples who will meet me there, and it's embarrassing to tell them that I don't know what the parking situation is, or where a good spot is for us to meet (meat?), and what kind of things might be for sale there (arts-n-crafts, etc?)

I agree, I have seen signs around town and got very excited. But after looking over the wbpage....not really anything to draw me in as a non-competitor. Will probably come for a while just to check it out anyways and take a break from chores, but this could have been a better executed event.
