RV Parks in the Wake Forest (or near) area
After reading as much as possible and going over our options, I think we've decided to go ahead and buy a fifth wheel for my husband to use as temporary housing until the rest of family arrives. He will be there in late February and we won't be there until June. We are wanting to buy a house so this seems like the best option short term. Are there are nice (or decent) rv parks in the area? My husband's job is in Wake Forest so he'd like to be close by. Thanks!

what kind of price have you found some type of popup trailer for? A google search yields essentially NO RV parks in Raleigh/Wake Forest. Maybe this place in garner, but having been up and down New Bern Avenue before many times, I can't say I've ever seen an RV park there.

I ran across this one in Durham: Birchwood RV Park, Durham North Carolina near Duke Univ, RTP and Chapel Hill 919.493.1557.
It looks nice, and they say people use it as temporary housing for months. It's near Duke Forest, on Wilkins Drive, about 32 miles (or 45 minutes) from Wake Forest. Maybe there something closer.

We're actually getting a 5th wheel and in addition to the temporary housing situation, we are going to try travelling in it since we're new to the area and are anxious to explore. It may not work out for us, but then we can always sell it. Maybe a mobile home park?

It's not close to Wake Forest, but 70-East Mobile Home & RV Park in Garner was a nice place for us to transition (we used to full-time) when we first returned to the area in 2003. I haven't driven through there in a very long time, but most of our RV neighbors were contract engineers on long assignments. We also had a college student from the Western part of NC who would stay there during the week, then commute home to the mountains on the weekends.
Birchwood RV in Durham sounds familiar; that may have been where we stayed for a month before finding the Garner park.
You may also want to look into long-term camping options at Jordan Lake (maybe Falls Lake, too?).

Google Lake Royale in Franklin County. I think they have a campground and it would be an easy commute to Wake Forest.

The NC State Park campgrounds at Falls Lake (2 near Wake Forest - Rolling View & Holly Point) have RV/5th wheel spaces & full hookups. Rolling View is open year-round but Holly Point is currently closed for the winter & will re-open in mid-March I believe. The only restriction is that you can only stay 2 weeks at a time, but you could work it out to stay 2 weeks, then 1 night at a Walmart parking lot, then 2 weeks, etc. My parents have an RV and when they come to visit they stay at Rolling View or Holly Point. There is also an area near the NC State Fairgrounds that allows RVs. A option not very close by would be the Smithfield KOA, but it's a long haul from Wake Forest.

They have camping lots, but they all seem to be for sale, not rentals.

Holly Point at Falls Lake would be very close. But, its a state park. That means you can't stay more than 14 days at a time (at least that used to be the rule). Plus, state parks close the gates at certain times at night. No exceptions.
College Park on New Bern Ave. is that "campground" behind Plemmons RV. In my humble opinion, its a borderline dump but considering he's using it for temporary housing and not for a vacation, it would work. I'm fairly sure they cater to the long term campers and not just vacationers. Not too close to Wake Forest though.
