My fiancee and I are looking for a good (and inexpensive) place to hold a reception in October after we get married. Does anyone have any ideas as to where a good place in Durham or, secondarily, Raleigh??

Do you want it catered on site or do you prefer a venue which
allows you to use your own caterers?

You might get more replies if you drill down more. Share what type you do or don't want. Size or capacity, price range, etc...

Also, there have been numerous threads on here with this info. You might want to do specific search...you'll find some useful info. Good luck!

I recommend checking out NC Bride Bio

Also the NC message board on TheKnot is extremely helpful for wedding related stuff.

In Durham, some options are The Cotton Room at Golden Belt, Bay 7 at American Tobacco Campus, and there is a new space coming at Main/Roxboro.

The Cookery plans on having a space up and going by April or so. There's also the Trotter Building, and the Marvell.

I agree, let us know what you're looking for and I'm sure someone has the perfect venue.

Smile Some ideas

I recently got married in Raleigh, planning it long distance from Arizona. I used most this site to plan most of the wedding.

Here is the link to the post I started, it might not meet your needs. Congratulations and good luck with the planning.

NC Museum of History or other wedding/reception location suggestions?

Connections Event Center is quite popular as a reception space -- especially since it is quite affordable and you can use your own caterer.

We had our reception at Flanders Art Gallery. It was reasonably priced and we were very happy with our experience. It was really nice to have real art on the walls instead of random reception hall stuff.
