I just mive to this are (RTP, cary/morrisville) and found out I am pregnant. I am looking for a good OBGYN(preferrably female) and birth center. I noted that if you choose a doc you like but you might need to go to the a different place, birth center, for deliver. Should I just choose a doc that on site of the birth center. Please refer any good OBGYN and birth center around. Also please share any recent experience you had with the doc and birth center.

Though I miscarried in the 2nd trimester, I can share my experience with two obs in the area.

At the beginning of my pregnancy, I went to Capital ob/gyn. I had been going there for years as I really liked my gyn there. But they were really horrid when it came to insurance and making appointments once it was time for prenatal visits. It culminated with getting into a huge argument with their administrator and left a bad taste in my mouth.

I ended up switching to their sister practice Cary ob/gyn over by Wake Med. I had a much better experience with their administrative staff and I have liked all the doctors I have seen there. They work closely with Wake Med Cary hospital which is also staffed by the most amazing and caring people. If I get pregnant again I will definitely use Cary ob/gyn and Wake Med Cary again.

For those group practise, do you get to seen by one of the doctor or actually they rotate? Which doc you will refer if you have one in mind?

They rotate you through the doctors so that you are familiar with everyone by the time you deliver. That way you're not in the delivery room with a stranger as you never know who will be on call when the time comes. Honestly I really liked everyone I saw, which was almost everyone, but if I had to choose a favorite it would be a toss-up between Dr. Brown-Prestia and Dr. Bond Bonpain

My wife uses Blue Ridge OB/GYN. They are affiliated with Rex Hospital. She has been very happy with the doctors and the practice as well as with Rex. We have another child due Feb. 8th and everything has been good with them. Might want to check them out as well in your search as they may or maynot fit what you are looking for.

thanks. I am debating birth centers between Rex hospital and Wakemed cary hospital. I know you used Rex, but do you have or have heard different experiences between those two birth vcenters?

Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Both of them have a very good reputation and I haven't heard any negative stories about either of them. I would maybe take a tour of both birthing facilities and go from there.

Don't think you can go wrong with either one. I have heard positives about both places. We just chose Rex due to it's proximity to us and a friend or two whom was a nurse there.

My wife has used Wilkerson for the last two kids. They are within feet of the doors to the Birth Center at REX. So if you like REX and want everything close by, that is the place.

I think they only had one male on staff, so still a chance to see a male, but mostly female if I remember correctly.

We have been pleased with their service on both kids.

Default thanks for all replies

Thanks for all your replies. It seems you all used a doc or practise that affiliated with a birth center. So I don't necessarily need to find a doc that works in the birth center.
It seems all you used group practise. Then I feel more confident go toward that approach.
