Thanks everyone for your response... I plan on giving some of these restaurants a try in February for V-Day, Birthday, and other celebratory events.

Cheers!
Matt

Good for you doing that diet! The tough thing is going to be oil free. That and the added sodium.

The triangle has a decent amount of vegetarian and vegan offerings, but the oil, sodium and/or nuts in the food will get you.

You can call up any of the vegetarian restaurants and ask if any of the dishes can be made without added oil -- water saute and that whole deal. More people are making those requests, so they might be able to meet your needs. It is even better if you can visit before hand and speak to the manager in person.

The big thing is to investigate the menu and/or call before you go and before any event so you don't 'cave' when you get there. OTOH, IMHO - a bit of added oil on just that one evening isn't going to set you back too badly as long as you stick with it the few days before/after and it is the one meal.

Whole Foods has the 'purple' labels that indicate they are oil free as well as vegetarian. I am not sure 'purple' always means vegan though so read the labels.

Martin's Curry doesn't have the greatest atmosphere for a celebration (kind of cafe like) but it does allow you to pick exactly what you want in your brown rice & vegetables meal & he'll water saute. I have no idea the degree of oil in his curry sauces though -- it might be worth a call to see if you can even do the curry sauces...you could just without the sauce.

Good luck to you over these next 3 wks and beyond!
