Thanks everyone! Yes, I did find cruisecritics and love it!
So, when I thought no one was beating carnival, I did not realize that the travel agents were including tax/fees and I was not factoring that into Carnivals rate. That being said, I used cruisecompete.com and am very happy with the deal I got. I used Cabin Clearance Store. The price was the exact same as Carnival but I got $400 in shipboard credit. I could see my reservation on Carnivals site in minutes, and have even asked the agent to change my cabin choice and they did so quickly and for free. They had good reviews and good BBB ratings, and have been in business for a long time.
Thanks for all of your help!
Glad things worked out. I totally forgot about Cruisecompete. I have used it before but typically, for the cruise I wanted, bestprice came up with a better price. Enjoy the cruise, there is nothing like it. Ahhh, can't wait for the next one.
Any update to this thread would be appreciated. We've booked through vacationstogo.com with amazing rates several times, but we are considering a longer, transatlantic cruise this time. Some of the cruise lines include airfare in special packages for these cruises, which would probably be advantageous for us, so I'm thinking it might be best to go with a REAL travel agent this time.
Suggestions and recommendations appreciated, either here or via PM.
