I remember an old Ann Landers article recommending that travelers collect and donate soaps, etc they get from hotel rooms. I assume Barney brings his own when staying at the Raleigh Y, but are there shelters or other charitable groups in town that may be interested in these?

Try the men's shelter on S. Wilmington Street or Helping Hand Mission.
Both help people facing challenges.

There is also a battered women's shelter, and a Salvation Army Women's and Childrens shelter in downtown Raleigh.

Hubby travels quite a bit and brings home all those small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc. He is like the cat that brings home the mouse and is surprised when no one is really happy to receive it! I have boxes of those things.

I like the idea of donating them. It is a great idea.

I'm going to contact those places suggested and hopefully, they do take the unopened bottles.

Vicki

I dropped mine off at the Healing Place of Wake Co by the Farmer's Market and they seemed very happy to receive them.

Goodwill doesn't want them but InterAct of Wake County says they will take them. I tried The Healing Place of Wake County but their website doesn't seem to be working. Any other suggestions?

Raleigh Rescue Mission at 314 E. Hargett St. would probably appreciate them. If not, right around the corner is the women/children Salvation Army shelter.

You might try the Helen Wright Center, a women-only shelter on Cabarrus Street, the Women's Center of Wake County (recently moved or in the process of moving to Cox Street), or (I think someone already mentioned) the Men's shelter on S Wilmington Street.
