I am relocating in April and looking for a GOOD kickboxing gym. I don't want the Billy Blanks Tae Bo stuff. I want heavy bags, mitt work, an all around intense kickboxing workout with professionals who will help me perfect my form.
I am currently a member at Knuckle Up on the Outer Banks and am very sad to be leaving. The classes there are a mix of cardio (jumping jacks, mountain climbers, high knees, etc.), strength training (Squats, pushups, weights) and of course, kickboxing. Looking for something similar.
Type O - Cardio, but I don't want to be punching air. So I guess really a combination of cardio and Muay Thai. =-/
Likely moving to Cary or Raleigh. I'm thinking LA Boxing will probably be where I end up joining. Anyone have any experience? Google reviews are both positive and negative!
Then I think Lifetime fitness or one of the community centers will probably be good for the cardio kick, to get some heavybags you may need a place like LA boxing.
I can be hard to find both in 1 place. What I have seen it is usually 1 or the other.
I do muay thai and you get serious cardio work in, but it is also sparring, pad work and heavybags. The main focus is to develop fighters, but i'd say 80% are there just for fitness.
