Where is the best place to buy folding street maps of the area? Some drug stores, some Walmarts, some gas stations have a few... Where's the best selection? I figure realtors or some recent house-hunters might have a good source. Thanks, anyone!

Used to be, it would have been Borders Book Store. If you are near an Ollie's Bargain Outlet, try them or the CVS stores. If you can't find anything better, try an online souce like Omnimap.com or Mapsupply.com . I recommend the most recent ADC map book you can find. Otherwise I have been using an online mapper, and printing what I need.

Barnes and Noble has a ton..probably the biggest selection I've seen around town. They are located in their travel section under local travel.

NCDOT gives out free state-wide maps at Welcome Centers and from their website: NCDOT: State Transportation Map

Might not give you the detail you're looking for, but it's free and you know it's accurate!

Yes, Barnes and Noble, as well as independent bookstores such as Books at Quail Ridge, have the "book style" maps I think you are asking about. it's a shame that GPS and Mapquest (etc) have tended to make maps obsolete (and thus harder to find).

It's unfortunate how all of these bookstores are drying up - I would suggest the same if you have any left in your area. Maps.com has a ton of options. Visitor centers also give away free maps of the area. Hope this helps!
